Fund of Funds
Many of our clients are investing for their own account. Universities, pension funds, foundations, and family offices may have several "pools" of capital, but are in the business for the benefit of one large organization. However, some of our earliest clients have been Fund of Funds. These organizations have the same basic investment tracking needs as any other investor. However, they have the additional task of satisfying and reporting to the investors who have entrusted them with capital.

For those clients we have built our Fund of Funds module. This tool allows you to manage the complete relationship with your investors. First, capital calls are allocated to the limited partners in many varying ways. Was the investor part of the first closing or the third? Do we round capital calls to avoid annoying our LP's with decimals? If so, who makes up the leftover? From there capital call letters can be generated using a standard Microsoft Word document template. As the capital calls start to arrive, the system tracks who submitted the capital and when.

Later when we receive a distribution from one of our investment funds, we can easily distribute this capital to our limiteds. The distribution allocation can be done using one of several methods that are all configurable by the user in order to replicate each step of the distribution waterfall.

At the end of the quarter, we can allocate realized and unrealized gains, income and fees to the limited partners in the same way. All of this is tied together in a capital account statement generated from within the standard reports of private i.
