private i is a database application that allows you to track, measure and report on private equity holdings. Originally written for some of the largest investors in private equity, private i is an ideal solution for smaller investors as well.

Even a single investment in a venture capital partnership quickly creates a mountain of data, from capital calls, fees, and distributions to
quarterly valuations of partnership-held portfolio companies. private i provides the means to track investments and the details the investments that come with it. private i helps you manage your private equity portfolio.

On a basic level, private i was designed to help investment managers answer a few questions about individual investments, groups of
investments and a total portfolio.

With this detailed data in hand, private i also helps you see the bigger picture.

1. What is my return on investment to date?
2. What is my overall exposure across partnerships to a particular company? To a particular industry? To a geographic region?

private i was developed by a team with over a dozen years of experience in deployed private equity software. Its highly optimized database
design truly helps put critical information at your fingertips. Experience with 175 clients helped us craft software that is robust, consistent and easy to use.

Who Uses Private i?

Our private i clients are investors with substantial commitments to alternative investments, including traditional private equity, direct- and co-investments, gatekeepers, fund of funds, institutional investors, endowments, foundations and family offices.

The core application was designed as a platform for handling the broad range of private equity, and partnership-like activity. For example, although private i is not a real estate management system, many of our clients use the Limited Partner model to track investments in real estate. Though not a hedge fund trading system, some our clients use private i to track partnership-like investments in hedge funds. The analytics are not confined to the Internal Rate of Return, but support a wide array of measures including the Time Weighted Return, the Investment Multiple, and so on.

The backbone of the system is a series of related data tables that provide support for tracking detailed information about organizations,
portfolio companies and people. These include a complete integrated contact manager with unlimited linked addresses, telephone numbers,
email addresses and notes. Portfolio companies are have additional characteristics, including industry codes and descriptions.

Additional Modules

The growth of the private i platform has come about organically, as the needs of our clients became apparent. Each of these modules is
licensed separately.

1. The first add-on module to private i came as the result of a request of a large corporate pension fund that was heavily invested in direct investments in portfolio companies. Now, five years later and several generations of improvements, the Direct Investments Module is a robust implementation of direct deal tracking.
2. The second add-on module was developed at the behest of two of our largest clients to support the back-office administration of a
   fund of funds, including tracking the capital accounts of its investors. The Fund of Funds Administration Module is now at work at some
   of the largest private equity fund of funds in the world.
3. The Benchmarking Module was developed because we thought it was important. This Add-On Module allows private i users to model the performance of their funds as if invested in public or other indexes.
4. The Funds Distribution Module allows users to manage the post-distribution activity of public stocks. This module was developed and refined in conjunction with two of our largest clients.
